End of the term letter
17 March 2020
Dear Parents
The first term has come to an abrupt end due to the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic.
School closure
The school will close on Tuesday 17 March at 12:00 and re-opens on Tuesday 14 April. Provisionally, to catch up the lost days, the June-July holidays will be shortened with 7 days and the September holidays with 2 days.
Report cards
Our learners will receive their reports cards during the second term. Details will be provided at a later stage, depending on the prevailing situation.
Precautionary measures
Please adhere to the measures to curtail the spread of the Corona virus as announced by the President.
We will put a process in place for all learners to wash their hands regularly when the schools re-opens in April. Therefore all our learners should bring their own facecloth or small towel with them to school to dry their hands.
Any sick child or a child diagnosed with COVID-19 should not attend school until he or she is cured and tested negative. We also request that when a child has a fever or cough, the parent should supply the child with a mask or the child must be told about the infection and ask for a mask at the school.
Website
Our school website address is www.nellieswart.co.za
This letter, relevant information and advice on precautions will be posted on the website. Kindly visit the website for updates.
School fees
We are grateful for all our parents whose school fees are paid up to date. Parents who are behind on payments must please ensure that it is brought up to date. Arrangements can be made with the school’s financial officer, Mrs Van Reenen, if you experience challenges. Urgent request for parents: Please use the correct reference when payments are made, because there are still payments that can not be allocated to the correct learner.. Email proof of payment to nelliefinace@gmail.com There are a number of parents who are in arrears which is a great concern. Please note Grade R and After Care may not be in arrears. Parents have to make urgent payments.
Telephone lines
The school’s Telkom lines are still down. We are working on it to solve this frustrating problem.
By-election
This term, we had a by-election at school to elect two parent members on the SGB. The two elected parents are Ms Kate Mabena and Ms. Melissa Africa. We welcome them to our SGB and are looking forward to their contributions to advance our school.
We thank our SGB and parents for their support at home and at school. Allow me to also thank our SMT and all educators for their inputs and hard work during the term! Our appreciation goes to the ground staff and supervisor for several maintenance projects and daily cleaning that was well done.
Please take care during these uncertain times. God bless.
Yours sincerely
